Description

A traditional Italian pizza topped with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast in a bowl.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil to the bowl.
  3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
  5. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface.
  7. Spread crushed tomatoes over the base.
  8. Top with mozzarella slices and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For a crispier crust, bake pizza on a preheated pizza stone.
