Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 cups fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; let sit until frothy.
- Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl, then create a well in the center.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil into the well; stir until combined.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour, covered with a cloth.
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Spread tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a border for the crust.
- Top with mozzarella slices and season with salt and pepper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, drizzle with olive oil before baking.
