Description

A traditional Italian pizza topped with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; let sit until frothy.
  2. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl, then create a well in the center.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil into the well; stir until combined.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour, covered with a cloth.
  6. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  8. Spread tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a border for the crust.
  9. Top with mozzarella slices and season with salt and pepper.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden.
  11. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, drizzle with olive oil before baking.
