- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: garlic powder, onion powder
Instructions
- Begin by cooking the pasta according to the package instructions until it’s al dente.
- In the last 3 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the boiling pasta water.
- While the pasta and broccoli are cooking, melt the butter in a separate saucepan over medium heat.
- Once the butter melts, stir in the flour, cooking for about 1 minute to form a roux.
- Gradually pour in the milk while whisking to prevent lumps.
- Bring the saucepan to a simmer and cook for about 2-3 minutes, until it thickens.
- Stir in the shredded cheese until it melts and blends smoothly into the sauce, seasoning with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
- Drain the pasta and broccoli, then combine them with the cheese sauce.
- Serve warm and enjoy your creamy dish!
