Ingredients

  • 8 oz pasta (any shape)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, onion powder

Instructions

  1. Begin by cooking the pasta according to the package instructions until it’s al dente.
  2. In the last 3 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the boiling pasta water.
  3. While the pasta and broccoli are cooking, melt the butter in a separate saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Once the butter melts, stir in the flour, cooking for about 1 minute to form a roux.
  5. Gradually pour in the milk while whisking to prevent lumps.
  6. Bring the saucepan to a simmer and cook for about 2-3 minutes, until it thickens.
  7. Stir in the shredded cheese until it melts and blends smoothly into the sauce, seasoning with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
  8. Drain the pasta and broccoli, then combine them with the cheese sauce.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy your creamy dish!
