Description

A rich and creamy tomato sauce with tender pieces of chicken, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450g) boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, and chili powder. Add the chicken pieces, cover, and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft.
  3. Stir in the garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the marinated chicken to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides.
  5. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, lower the heat, and simmer for about 15 minutes.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream and cook for another 5 minutes. Add salt to taste.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

Marinating the chicken for longer will enhance the flavors. Adjust spice level as desired.
