Description

A soft, fluffy cake with pockets of sweet caramel and a rich brown sugar cinnamon swirl, topped with a delightful salted caramel drizzle.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Salted caramel sauce for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract and sour cream.
  4. Combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl and whisk together.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Prepare the brown sugar mixture by combining brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts.
  7. Layer the batter by pouring half into the pan, sprinkling half of the brown sugar mixture on top, then adding the rest of the cake batter and topping with the remaining brown sugar mixture.
  8. Swirl the mixtures together lightly using a knife.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  10. Cool slightly and serve, drizzling with salted caramel sauce.

Notes

Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.
