Description

A comforting dish with a crispy exterior and juicy interior, perfect for family dinners or gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 68 thin sliced chicken breasts
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbs hot sauce
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup reserved oil from frying
  • 1/3 cup flour (for gravy)
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pan to 325°F.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, and hot sauce.
  4. Dredge chicken breasts in the flour mixture, dip in the egg mixture, then back in the flour mixture.
  5. Fry the chicken for 3-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. For gravy, heat reserved oil in a pan, stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  7. Gradually add milk, whisking until thickened; season with salt and pepper.
  8. Serve with gravy over the fried chicken.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Best served hot with sides like mashed potatoes.
