Ingredients

Scale

**For the Waffle Batter:**

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

1 3/4 cups whole milk (room temperature)

2 large eggs

1/3 cup melted butter (cooled slightly)

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

**For the Cinnamon Swirl:**

1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

3/4 cup light brown sugar (packed)

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

**For the Cream Cheese Drizzle:**

4 ounces cream cheese (softened)

3 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)

1 cup powdered sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

24 tablespoons milk

Pinch of salt

Instructions

1. Make the cinnamon swirl filling by creaming together softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour until smooth. Transfer to a piping bag or ziplock bag and set aside.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg until combined.

3. In a separate bowl, beat eggs, then add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.

4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined. Small lumps are okay.

5. Preheat your waffle iron to medium-high heat and lightly spray with cooking spray.

6. Pour 1/2 to 3/4 cup batter onto the preheated waffle iron, then immediately pipe the cinnamon swirl mixture in a spiral pattern over the batter.

7. Close the waffle iron and cook for 4-6 minutes until golden brown and steam stops escaping.

8. Carefully remove the waffle with a fork or silicone tongs and place on a wire rack.

9. While waffles cook, make the cream cheese drizzle by beating cream cheese and butter until fluffy, then adding powdered sugar, vanilla, salt, and milk until smooth and pourable.

10. Serve waffles warm with generous cream cheese drizzle on top. Garnish with fresh berries if desired.

Notes

Bring all refrigerated ingredients to room temperature before starting for best results.

Don’t overmix the batter—small lumps are okay and help keep waffles fluffy.

The cinnamon swirl can be made up to 3 days ahead and stored at room temperature.

For crispier waffles, place finished waffles on a wire rack rather than stacking them.

Freeze cooked waffles for up to 3 months. Reheat in a toaster for quick breakfasts.

Adjust your waffle iron temperature if the cinnamon is burning—medium heat works better for some models.

You can substitute half the flour with whole wheat flour for a healthier version.
