- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 package (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2–3 tbsp milk (for icing)
Instructions
- Combine warm milk and yeast in a mixing bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes.
- Add melted butter, sugar, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix it all together until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour while mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise for 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Roll it out into a large rectangle on a floured surface. Aim for about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the softened butter over the dough evenly.
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together in a separate bowl. Sprinkle this mixture over the buttered dough.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice it into rolls, about 1 inch thick. Place the slices in a greased baking dish.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for about 20-25 minutes.
- Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and a little milk until smooth and creamy for icing.
- Spread the icing generously over the warm rolls before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2-3 months.
