Description

This moist and delicious banana bread recipe is a comforting treat that’s quick and easy to make, perfect for using overripe bananas.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray to ensure an easy release later.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork or potato masher until they’re mostly smooth.
  3. Stir in the melted butter until the mixture combines. Then, add brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing until everything is well integrated.
  4. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the banana mixture. Gently mix to incorporate.
  5. Next, add the all-purpose flour and fold it into the mixture until just combined.
  6. If you want to enhance your bread, fold in chocolate chips or nuts at this point.
  7. Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan and smooth out the top.
  8. Place it in the oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. After baking, cool the loaf in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For serving, enjoy banana bread warm with butter or cream cheese. Store leftovers wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
