Ingredients

  • 1 box vanilla or yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  3. Mix the eggs, sour cream, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Add the box cake mix gradually to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Prepare the cinnamon filling by mixing the ground cinnamon, light brown sugar, and chopped nuts in a separate bowl.
  6. Layer half the cake batter into the prepared baking pan and sprinkle the cinnamon filling over it.
  7. Pour the remaining cake batter on top and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Cool the cake in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
