Description

A simple yet delicious Margherita pizza topped with fresh basil and mozzarella cheese.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  2. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Combine flour, salt, and olive oil in a bowl.
  4. Add the yeast mixture and knead into a dough.
  5. Let the dough rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface.
  7. Spread crushed tomatoes over the base.
  8. Top with mozzarella slices and season with salt and pepper.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes until the crust is golden.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For a crispier crust, preheat a pizza stone in the oven.
