Description

Soft, gooey cinnamon rolls smothered in cream cheese icing, perfect for lazy mornings or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • Powdered sugar (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter and warm the milk: Heat the butter and milk together until the temperature reaches between 100°F and 110°F.
  2. Combine ingredients: Pour the warm milk and melted butter into a mixing bowl, then sprinkle in the yeast and sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
  3. Mix in the wet ingredients: Add in the egg and a splash of vanilla extract. Stir everything well to combine.
  4. Add the flour: Gradually incorporate the flour into the mixture until a soft dough forms.
  5. Proof the dough: Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and place it in a warm oven for about 10 minutes.
  6. Prepare the filling: Mix the softened butter, light brown sugar, cinnamon, and a splash of vanilla extract in a small bowl.
  7. Roll out the dough: After the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle shape.
  8. Spread the filling: Evenly spread the cinnamon filling over the rolled-out dough.
  9. Roll it up: Starting from one end, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log shape.
  10. Cut into slices: Use a sharp knife or dental floss to cut the log into about 12 slices.
  11. Bake: Pop the pan into a preheated oven at 350°F for 20-25 minutes.
  12. Top with icing: Let the rolls cool before drizzling with a creamy icing made from softened cream cheese and powdered sugar.

Notes

Serve warm with coffee or tea. Add chopped nuts on top for texture.
