Description

A rich and moist chocolate cake perfect for celebrations or indulging with family and friends.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 g dark chocolate
  • 100 g flour
  • 200 g butter
  • 140 g sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 sachet baking powder (11 g)
  • For the topping: 80 g dark or milk chocolate
  • 40 g butter
  • 2 to 3 handfuls of colorful sugar decorations

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Melt the dark chocolate with the butter in a bain-marie or in the microwave until smooth.
  3. Whisk the eggs with the sugar until the mixture becomes fluffy.
  4. Gently fold in the sifted flour and baking powder.
  5. Add the melted chocolate-butter mixture and mix until smooth.
  6. Pour into a greased or lined cake pan and bake for 30 to 45 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool on a wire rack before removing from the pan.
  8. Prepare the topping by melting the chocolate and butter in a bain-marie.
  9. Spread it over the cooled cake and decorate as desired.
  10. Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

For added indulgence, serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
