A hearty and comforting classic Italian lasagna made with layers of rich meat sauce, creamy béchamel, and gooey cheese.

- 9 lasagna noodles
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 lb ground beef
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Boil the lasagna noodles in salted water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, then drain excess fat.
- Add marinara sauce to the beef, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Mix ricotta cheese with egg and basil in a bowl.
- Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- Layer 3 lasagna noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, and one-third of the mozzarella.
- Repeat layers, finishing with meat sauce and remaining mozzarella on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, add Italian seasoning to the meat sauce or use fresh herbs in the ricotta mixture.
