Description

A hearty and comforting classic Italian lasagna made with layers of rich meat sauce, creamy béchamel, and gooey cheese.


Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Boil the lasagna noodles in salted water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  3. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, then drain excess fat.
  4. Add marinara sauce to the beef, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Mix ricotta cheese with egg and basil in a bowl.
  6. Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  7. Layer 3 lasagna noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, and one-third of the mozzarella.
  8. Repeat layers, finishing with meat sauce and remaining mozzarella on top.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add Italian seasoning to the meat sauce or use fresh herbs in the ricotta mixture.
