Description

Delicious Greek Chicken Gyros that are easy to prepare and bursting with flavor.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breasts
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1/2 cup tzatziki sauce
  • 1 cup fresh tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 cup red onion, sliced

Instructions

  1. Combine yogurt, garlic, oregano, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Add chicken breasts to the marinade, coating them evenly. Let them sit for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the marinated chicken for about 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
  4. Once done, slice the chicken thinly.
  5. Warm the pita breads in the oven or on a skillet.
  6. Assemble the gyros by placing sliced chicken, tzatziki sauce, diced tomatoes, and sliced onions in each pita.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Marinate the chicken for up to 2 hours for more flavor. Enjoy with a Greek salad or extra tzatziki.
