Description

Experience the warmth and comfort of homemade cinnamon rolls, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Start by grabbing a large mixing bowl. Combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In another bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs together. Gradually add this wet mixture to your dry ingredients, introducing it slowly to create a smooth blend.
  2. Next, stir in the remaining flour, half a cup at a time, until you get a lovely dough that starts pulling away from the edges of the bowl. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  3. Now, take a greased bowl and place your dough inside. Cover it with a cloth and keep it in a warm, draft-free spot. Let it rise until it doubles in size; this will take around 1 hour.
  4. Once your dough is plump and fluffy, roll it out on a floured surface to form a rectangle. Spread the softened butter over the surface of the dough. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon generously over the butter-coated dough.
  5. Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other, forming a log shape. Cut the log into roll portions (about 1-2 inches thick) and place these in a greased baking dish.
  6. Cover them again and let them rise for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, until they turn beautifully golden brown.
  8. While those rolls are baking, whip up the frosting by beating the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Once the cinnamon rolls are out of the oven and slightly cooled, spread the frosting over the warm rolls.

Notes

Serve warm with coffee or milk. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
