Description

Delicious Korean BBQ steak rice bowls topped with spicy cream sauce, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Flank Steak (or sirloin or ribeye)
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil (or olive oil)
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil (adjust as needed)
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce (gluten-free if needed)
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar (honey can be a substitute)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger (grated) (or ground ginger)
  • to taste Black Pepper
  • 2 cups Cooked Jasmine Rice (or quinoa or cauliflower rice)
  • 1/4 cup Green Onions (chopped)
  • 1 cup Shredded Carrots (or bell peppers or snap peas)
  • 1 cup Cucumber (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt)
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha Sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon Lime Juice (or lemon juice)
  • 1 tablespoon Honey (or agave syrup for vegan)
  • to taste Salt

Instructions

  1. Marinate the steak: In a mixing bowl, combine vegetable oil, sesame oil, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper. Stir well to create a marinade. Add the flank steak and ensure it’s well coated. Let the steak marinate for at least 20 minutes for maximum flavor.
  2. Cook the steak: Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add a little oil to the pan. Once the oil is hot, remove the steak from the marinade and add it to the pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly.
  3. Prepare the spicy cream sauce: While the steak rests, mix mayonnaise, sriracha, lime juice, honey, and salt in a small bowl. Adjust the heat by adding more sriracha, if desired.
  4. Assemble the bowls: Start by adding a scoop of cooked jasmine rice to each bowl. Top with sliced steak, shredded carrots, cucumber slices, and chopped green onions. Drizzle the spicy cream sauce over the top.
  5. Enjoy! Dig in while it’s fresh! Mix everything together before your first bite.

Notes

These bowls can stand alone but pair well with spring rolls or a cucumber salad.
