  • 1 lb Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts or Thighs
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 1 piece Egg White
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • Vegetable Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger, minced
  • 23 Dried Red Chilies or Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1/2 cup Tomato Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Chili Garlic Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar or Honey
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • Sliced Green Onions
  • Toasted Sesame Seeds
  • Thin Strips of Fried Onion or Bell Pepper

Instructions

  1. Start by cutting your chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch, egg white, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Fry the chicken until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.
  6. Add sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and dried red chilies to the pan.
  7. Stir-fry until fragrant, then add ketchup, soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, vinegar, sugar or honey, and water.
  8. Simmer the sauce until it reaches the desired consistency.
  9. Return the crispy chicken to the pan and toss to coat.
  10. Garnish with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and fried onion or bell pepper strips before serving.

Notes

Serve with jasmine rice or noodles. Consider garnishing with lime wedges for a tangy kick.
