Description

Delicious homemade caramel rolls that bring family together with their warm, gooey topping and sweet aroma.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm milk and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix in the melted butter, eggs, and 2 cups of flour. Stir until smooth and well-combined.
  3. Add the remaining flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread a mixture of brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter evenly over the top.
  6. Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other, creating a log shape.
  7. Cut the rolled dough into 1-inch pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
  8. Combine corn syrup, brown sugar, and vanilla in a saucepan over low heat to melt. Pour this over the rolls.
  9. Cover and let the rolls rise for about 30 minutes until puffy.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Enjoy them warm, drizzled with caramel sauce!

Notes

Serve warm with a dusting of powdered sugar and a drink of your choice.
