Description
Delicious homemade caramel rolls that bring family together with their warm, gooey topping and sweet aroma.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups warm milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Combine the warm milk and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Mix in the melted butter, eggs, and 2 cups of flour. Stir until smooth and well-combined.
- Add the remaining flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread a mixture of brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter evenly over the top.
- Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other, creating a log shape.
- Cut the rolled dough into 1-inch pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
- Combine corn syrup, brown sugar, and vanilla in a saucepan over low heat to melt. Pour this over the rolls.
- Cover and let the rolls rise for about 30 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Enjoy them warm, drizzled with caramel sauce!
