- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 large egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4–5 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 box vanilla wafers
Instructions
- Combine the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously until smooth and thickened (5-7 minutes).
- Whisk the egg yolks in a separate bowl and temper by adding hot mixture gradually while whisking.
- Pour the tempered yolk mixture back into the saucepan.
- Continue cooking for another 2 minutes while stirring, then remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla until melted.
- Layer your serving dish with vanilla wafers, banana slices, and pudding mixture until all ingredients are used, finishing with pudding.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
Use ripe bananas for the best flavor. Ensure to temper the egg yolks properly to prevent curdling.
