Description
A flavorful delight inspired by Outback Steakhouse, perfect for family gatherings or cozy nights in.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb. Boneless Chicken Breast (sliced, pounded)
- ½ Cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Cup Buttermilk
- 3 Tablespoons Oil (for frying)
- 2 Teaspoons Seasoned Salt
- 1½ Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
- 1 Teaspoon Smoked Paprika
- ¼ Teaspoon Garlic Powder
- ¼ Teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 Cup Water
Instructions
- Flatten the Chicken: Start by placing your boneless chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap. Use a rolling pin to gently pound it out to about ½-inch thickness.
- Prepare the Buttermilk Mixture: In a bowl, mix the buttermilk with a splash of water.
- Create the Dry Coating: In another bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, seasoned salt, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Coat the Chicken: Roll the flattened chicken pieces in the dry mixture, then dip into the buttermilk mix, and back into the flour.
- Prepare for Frying: Line a wire rack with paper towels. Place the coated chicken on the rack.
- Fry the Chicken: Heat the oil in your frying pan over medium-high heat and fry until golden brown, about 6-7 minutes on each side.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the chicken from the pan, and garnish with fresh cilantro.
Notes
Pair with crispy fries, a green salad, or corn on the cob. Don’t forget the blooming sauce for dipping!
