Description

A flavorful Persian Chicken recipe featuring fragrant spices, tender chicken, and sweet dried apricots, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup dried apricots, chopped
  • 1/2 cup almonds, slivered
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Start by heating the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Once it warms up, toss in the sliced onions and sauté until they turn translucent, releasing their delightful aroma.
  2. Next, add the minced garlic, turmeric, and cumin to the pot. Cook this mixture for about a minute until you can smell the spices—what a fantastic way to wake up your senses!
  3. Carefully add the chicken pieces to the pot. Allow them to brown nicely on all sides, soaking in the delicious flavors of the onion and spices. Aim for a nice golden color.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cover the pot and let it cook for about 30-35 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  5. Now it’s time to stir in the dried apricots and slivered almonds. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the apricots to soften and absorb all those savory flavors.
  6. Finally, season your dish with salt and pepper to taste. Give it a gentle stir and prepare to serve!
  7. Serve this delicious Persian Chicken warm, garnished with fresh parsley for an added pop of color and freshness.
