Description

A delightful casserole that combines the flavors of French toast with fresh blueberries, perfect for family gatherings or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups of cubed bread
  • 2 cups of fresh blueberries
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • Butter (for greasing the pan)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Spread the cubed bread evenly in the baking dish and sprinkle the blueberries on top.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until everything is well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and blueberries, pressing down gently to ensure the bread absorbs the liquid.
  5. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes or cover and refrigerate overnight for a more flavorful dish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  7. Serve warm, optionally topped with syrup or powdered sugar.

Notes

Use day-old bread for best results. Fresh blueberries are preferred over frozen.
