Description

These quick and easy cinnamon rolls are deliciously soft and fluffy, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Stir gently until blended.
  2. Add the wet ingredients: Pour in the warm milk, melted butter, and crack in the egg. Mix everything together until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Lightly flour your surface and knead the dough for about five minutes until it feels smooth and elastic. Then, cover it with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
  4. Roll it out: Once your dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle—aim for about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Spread the filling: Brush the rolled-out dough with melted butter, then sprinkle it generously with a mixture of cinnamon and brown sugar.
  6. Roll and slice: Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Use a sharp knife to slice it into even pieces—about 1 inch thick works perfectly.
  7. Prepare for baking: Place the sliced rolls into a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between each one. Cover it again with a towel, and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
  8. Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 15-20 minutes or until they turn a lovely golden brown.
  9. Ice and serve: While the rolls are baking, mix powdered sugar with a splash of milk to create a simple icing. Drizzle the icing over the warm rolls before serving.

Notes

For a special treat, serve the rolls with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
