Description

Delicious and visually stunning red velvet cinnamon rolls, perfect for Valentine’s Day.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 cup cream cheese (for frosting)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk until well mixed.
  3. Mix together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, vanilla, and red food coloring in another bowl.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick on a floured countertop.
  6. Spread melted butter over the dough and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other and slice into rolls.
  8. Place them in a greased baking dish, cut side up.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until puffed and cooked through.
  10. Prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth.
  11. Spread frosting over warm rolls once they are out of the oven.
  12. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For an extra treat, serve with fresh strawberries or vanilla ice cream.
