A comforting and delicious lasagna made easily in a slow cooker, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
- Lasagna noodles
- Ricotta cheese
- Mozzarella cheese
- Parmesan cheese
- Marinara sauce
- Ground beef (or sausage)
- Italian seasoning
- Garlic
- Onion
- Salt
- Pepper
Instructions
- Start by browning the ground beef or sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic, cooking until the meat is no longer pink and the onions are soft. This step adds a lot of flavor, so don’t skip it! Once done, drain any excess fat and set it aside.
- Prepare your slow cooker by layering with a generous scoop of marinara sauce at the bottom. Next, break the lasagna noodles into pieces—no need to cook them beforehand (they’ll get soft while cooking in the sauce).
- In the slow cooker, create your first layer: Add a mix of broken lasagna noodles on top of the marinara sauce, followed by a layer of ricotta cheese, a sprinkle of mozzarella, and the browned meat mixture.
- Repeat these layers until you’ve used all the ingredients. Remember to finish with a layer of mozzarella cheese on top; this will create that beautiful, cheesy crust.
- Now that you have your layers all set, sprinkle some Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper over the top to pack in even more flavor.
- Cover the slow cooker and let it cook on low for about 240 to 360 minutes. Keep an eye on it; the lasagna is done when the noodles are tender and the cheese is melty and bubbly.
- Once cooked, let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve with a fresh green salad and warm garlic bread. Can store leftovers in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for 2-3 months.
