- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine the flour, powdered sugar, and cubed butter in a mixing bowl. Mix until crumbly.
- Add the egg yolk and mix until a dough forms.
- Press the dough into a tart pan, ensuring it covers the bottom and sides evenly. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Whisk together the milk, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook while stirring until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour the custard into the cooled tart crust and let set for 30 minutes to an hour.
- Add the sliced strawberries on top before serving.
Notes
For best results, cool the tart crust completely before adding custard. Allow enough time for the custard to set.
