Description

A delightful strawberry custard tart that combines creamy custard with fresh strawberries, perfect for spring celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the flour, powdered sugar, and cubed butter in a mixing bowl. Mix until crumbly.
  3. Add the egg yolk and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Press the dough into a tart pan, ensuring it covers the bottom and sides evenly. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Whisk together the milk, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook while stirring until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Pour the custard into the cooled tart crust and let set for 30 minutes to an hour.
  7. Add the sliced strawberries on top before serving.

Notes

For best results, cool the tart crust completely before adding custard. Allow enough time for the custard to set.
