- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round cake pan.
- Mix the brown sugar and melted butter in a small bowl. Pour this mixture into the bottom of the cake pan.
- Arrange the sliced strawberries on top of the brown sugar mixture.
- Beat together the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add the milk and melted butter to the mixture and combine well.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter over the strawberries in the pan, ensuring it covers them completely.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool for a few minutes, then invert it onto a serving plate.
Notes
Serve warm with whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
