Description

A traditional Italian pizza topped with fresh mozzarella, basil, and tomatoes.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Combine flour and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour. Knead until smooth.
  4. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a pizza shape.
  7. Spread tomato sauce on the base, leaving a border.
  8. Arrange mozzarella slices on top of the sauce.
  9. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then bake for 12-15 minutes.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For best results, use fresh ingredients and let the dough rise longer for a more flavorful crust.
