Description

A comforting homemade lasagna layered with savory beef, creamy ricotta, and gooey cheese, perfect for family gatherings and weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Cook until the meat is fully browned.
  4. Pour in the marinara sauce with the cooked beef, stirring well. Allow this to simmer for about 5 minutes and then remove it from heat.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until well combined.
  6. Start layering your lasagna in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce at the bottom, followed by 3 noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers once more, ending with a final layer of meat sauce on top.
  7. Sprinkle the last cup of mozzarella cheese and the Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the lasagna.
  8. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until it’s bubbling and golden brown.
  9. Let it cool for about 10-15 minutes before slicing. This cooling period helps the layers set, making it easier to serve.

Notes

Serve with a crisp green salad or garlic bread. Add fresh basil for garnish.
