- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Cook until the meat is fully browned.
- Pour in the marinara sauce with the cooked beef, stirring well. Allow this to simmer for about 5 minutes and then remove it from heat.
- In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until well combined.
- Start layering your lasagna in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce at the bottom, followed by 3 noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers once more, ending with a final layer of meat sauce on top.
- Sprinkle the last cup of mozzarella cheese and the Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the lasagna.
- Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until it’s bubbling and golden brown.
- Let it cool for about 10-15 minutes before slicing. This cooling period helps the layers set, making it easier to serve.
Notes
Serve with a crisp green salad or garlic bread. Add fresh basil for garnish.
