A quick and comforting Tomato Basil Pasta recipe that’s perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients

- 12 ounces of pasta (spaghetti, penne, or your favorite shape)
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) of diced tomatoes (or use fresh tomatoes, chopped)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup of fresh basil leaves, packed
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water.
- Prepare the sauce by heating olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the diced tomatoes (with their juices), season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, then let simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
- Combine the pasta with the sauce, adding reserved pasta water if needed to reach the desired consistency.
- Finish by folding in fresh basil leaves until they wilt.
- Serve and enjoy with grated Parmesan cheese on top.
Notes
Pairs well with a crisp salad and garlic bread. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
