Description
A simple and delicious crockpot recipe for orange chicken that combines sweet and tangy flavors, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Start by placing the chicken thighs in your crockpot. You don’t need to chop them; the slow cooking process will break them down beautifully.
- In a bowl, mix the orange juice, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Whisk this mixture until smooth.
- Pour the sauce over the chicken in the crockpot, ensuring every piece is well-coated.
- Cover the crockpot and set it to cook on low for 240-360 minutes or high for 120-180 minutes, depending on your time availability.
- About 30 minutes before serving, mix the cornstarch with water in a small bowl until smooth. Stir this mixture into the crockpot to thicken the sauce.
- Once cooked, shred the chicken with two forks and mix it well with the sauce.
- Serve the orange chicken hot, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for an extra pop of color!
Notes
Serve with steamed rice or quinoa for a balanced meal. This dish also freezes well for up to 3 months.
