Description
A comforting Chicken Stroganoff dish featuring tender chicken in a creamy sauce with mushrooms and a hint of Worcestershire sauce, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound chicken breast, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Cooked egg noodles or rice for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken and cook until browned. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
- Toss in the sliced mushrooms, cooking until they soften and release their juices.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture, stirring it in well. Cook for about 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste.
- Gradually pour in the chicken broth while stirring continuously. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, allowing it to thicken slightly.
- Lower the heat and add the sour cream, stirring until it’s fully incorporated and creamy.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and heat until everything is warmed through.
- Serve immediately over cooked egg noodles or rice for a satisfying meal.
