- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Boil a large pot of salted water, add the lasagna noodles, and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water.
- Brown the meat in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Combine ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan, egg, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix until well-blended.
- Assemble the lasagna by spreading a layer of meat sauce in a baking dish, layering three noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, and a third of the mozzarella. Repeat this process and finish with a layer of noodles, sauce, and mozzarella.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Cool for about 10 minutes before slicing to allow the layers to set.
Notes
Serve with a green salad and garlic bread for a complete meal. Allow lasagna to rest after baking for easier slicing.
